I sit in the twilight, warm stoneware mug between two cold hands. The branches of the evergreen lit to mesmerize me. As I hold my mug, and drift deeply into the lights of the evergreen my mind is drawn back to our creator. My focus is of peace, love, and the one person that came in this world to set man kind free.
I sit beneath my fuzzy socks, cozy pajama pants, and a soft blanket that caresses my skin. I fall into a meditative state as I stare at the glow of this tree. Reminded of how precious our lives are, what a gift it is to be alive.
The evergreen reminds me of the life we can have with Christ. When He is abiding in us, no matter how cold the outside world may be we are standing tall, full of life, a reflection of our creator, a light in the darkness. I want to be that light, I want to be this tree, I want to bring hope, love and peace to people, I want that because Christ lives in me and I know he is the answer for our world today.
Christmas is a time of extra special care to my family. Creating an atmosphere that brings us together, brings us more unified, and allows us to focus on the birth of Christ. This time of year as we hang our stockings and decorate our home peace, joy and love begin to fill it. Wanting to give to others, knowing this world is full of people who need Christ, and choosing self sacrifice that we may give to others are fulfilled during this time.
Nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon fill the air. Carols from a hundred years ago are still sung. I find myself pausing even if just for a few moments a day to be in awe of the real spiritual magic that exists here on earth because God sent his son.
God bringing beauty from ashes, and restoring years the locust have stolen come to my mind during this season. Because Christ-mas is the evidence of God the father doing this. The satens (plural, referring to things that block us from Christ) are very good at what they do. They want to steal things that were built into our DNA and use them for evil, or in the very least block us from Christ Jesus. But as we learn to breath, trust, and abide in the Holy Spirit we see God and his son everywhere.
As I see more and more Christians throwing Christmas away, I wonder are we just giving into what the enemy wanted all along? Are we taking something that was given to us to celebrate the reason for having life abundantly and throwing it away? I admittedly have pondered and struggled and asked the Holy Spirit to speak to me on this matter. For me The whisper of judging something by its fruit comes to my mind each and every time. The fruit of this season is good. As for me and our house we wills serve the Lord and honor Christmas.
Very nicely written, Sunny! I wish you and your family a joyous Christmas season and hope that the coming year is one of peace, health, and prosperity for you all:)
